T/C Encore buttstock modification

I have had an Encore since I was 18. It's been my go to hunting rifle for years, but the buttstock on it is something only a mother could love.
I have a nice piece of English walnut staring at me, and I'd like to make a new set of stocks for it. I've seen every aftermarket stock there is out there, and they all look like canoe paddles to me.
My question is this, has anyone ever modified the Encore reciever to allow for a for a more graceful pistol grip?
I'm thinking about cutting off the stud that the gripscrew threads into, and then machining a new stud that I would thread into the reciever at a more laid back angle.

I work for David Van Horn in Arizona, he is retired. I did not see it done, we had it in a drawer.
There was a welding jig. The hammer spring is in same hole as grip/stock screw.
I will disassemble and take a picture

Pictures show where cut and welded, Encore may be different.
Outside can be inconsistent, I would align from bolt hole.
Needs to be packed in thermal protection gunk while welding.
