Switching RFBR to F-class...

So... been trying true BR in a Randolph 1-pc with this gun....

I just dont think I like dialing w /e from a rest. I like "shouldering" a rifle.

From what I can see (Im just learning) F- class uses a real rifle stock, a front rest and a rear bag.

To make the transition, Im looking at stocks .

But I need suggestions / requirements for F-class comps to decide what stock to get.

I’m using a manners T2a with the vortex GE,Jewell br trigger with a Joypod it’s identical to my tr rifle except my tr rifle has a t6a pretty much the same stock on the backend just different forearm.

F class is shot from a rest or bipods prone. I have a MBR stock on a centerfire. I have shot it prone with a Bald eagle rest and bi-pods. Try what you have, then see what others are shooting.

Could do that. Still need to replace the stock. This McMillan doesnt shoulder well.

No, you do not. You shoot free recoil. If you like to shoulder the stock, which nobody does, you will never shoot that gun to it’s potential.
Nobody shoulders these guns.

Tim is correct BR shooters shoot free recoil and pretty much most of the open f/class do also and I would say it’s about 50/50 in tr.. I can not shoot free recoil so garandman I understand where you’re coming from.

FORUM BOSS: Actually, many benchrest shooters, including some 100/200 Hall of Famers, will have hand contact on the gun grip, or, quite commonly thumb contact behind the tang. Many shooters will have the butt just touching (or very close), so this is not true "free recoil" where all you touch is the trigger. With the heavier-recoiling LR benchrest rigs, some contact (not heavy shouldering) is commnn. Watch the videos of 600- and 1000-yard BR shooters and you will actually see quite a few variations.

Honestly... I dont like free recoil.

So Im not doing it. And thats the end of that discussion. :)

Im getting a stock suited to traditional shouldering and I'll live with whatever that means.

F class rules IINM call for the shooter to shoulder the weapon.
Not sure about the one piece rest, you might want to inquire about that.

I don’t think you can use a 1 piece rest in f/class..but I’m not 100% sure and I’m pretty sure open can shoot free recoil but us lucky tr shooters cannot, even though several do.

FTR tactical rifle is a slightly different animal , my friend
@bpd459 would have a greater knowledge of the rules being one of the more accomplished FTR shooters that are members.
I’ll let John speak for himself of course.
