Switchbarrel options for F-Open

If any of you folks still hold a penchant for a "single rifle .284" setup with multiple switch barrels, I can double your pleasure and double your fun all on the cheap, provided you are using a Barnard P action. I have a spare magnum faced bolt for it that I don't really need anymore. PM me if you are interested.

I have 3 rifles, one in 6BRX for the short game, 2 in .284 for driving. I will be building another one this spring in of all things .284. Poor cartridge I know, but it seems to do okay. Better to shoot more and quit worrying about what scope setting is on the wrong barrel today! All separate rifles with separate scopes. My club bag is getting full though, awful heavy. I would take accuracy over speed, but I do like all the stories about the magnums! I just can't afford one. Still, I will have a backup for my backup and will not have to clean once during a match! I would not recommend the 6BRX, it is to easy to shoot and you end up with bad habits.

Pick One, whatever it is and stick with it. Beware the hunter that has only one rifle. Like as not, he knows how to use it!

I decided on building another exact copy of my existing rifle, which is a 284 Shehane.

I'll decide on a possible 6 Dasher mid-range switchbarrel later when the 6 dasher brass comes in from bullets.com.

I think the 284 Shehane pushing 180gr hybrids 2890-2930 fps is plenty. The recoil is VERY manageable and I will soon have a barrel that will relinquish itself to fireforming duties, which I am going to try to do in my garage if I can come up with a way to capture all the gases and cream of wheat and exhaust it outside of the garage. LOL. The other option is a hydro die.

Get a 6ft length of 4" heavy wall steel pipe and bury it 4ft in the ground. Fill the bottom up with beach sand and plug the top with foam with a hole just big enough to slide your barrel into. You can run full house loads into it the ground. Good for running in barrels and fire forming brass.
