swift scopes

looking for a scope to put on my varminter. I kknow you get what you payfor, buy it once for less or twice for more. opinion would be great to hear. Its going on a trued 700 custom stock 6br. Need to something to assist in getting rid of dog town. Family has 30 sections in nebraska. TIA

Seriously exactly what are you looking for? There's lousy, there's acceptable, there's exceptional... what do you want to pay? What's the outside range you expect to shoot?

For a just relatively few bucks,around 250) you could go with something like a Simmons 6-20x44,called a 44 Mag) that's actually quite good. Good enough for varmints. I have one on my 6BR. It was on the .243 before this gun was built. The scope has been shooting 1/4" groups for me since about 2000 and it's done very well for me on steel out to 600 yards,in .243 mode) as well. There's no reason to believe it wouldn't have done as well further out, I just didn't have the need.

Or you could go up the price ladder. Leupold's, Nightforces. They DO have better optics and they DO have better internals too. The question is, do you have the means to pay for them or even the need?

Given my preference, I'd prefer to buy more than I actually need rather than less and consequently come up short...and then spend yet more to get to where I should have started. Up to you.

For about 250 you can choose any section you want that has dogs on it as long as MOM says ok.

Had three bench guns just let the scopes go with them I guess I will get the Leupold or something comarable.

Anyone else feel free to chime in.
