Swede report

Quail season is finally over. I finally got a chance to do some work with my new 101 yr old Swede. This is what I found.
45gr. RL-17 140 A-Max 2840 fps. .5" group
48.5 gr. RL-17 130 Accubond 3020 fps .742" group
49gr. IMR-4831 129 Hornady 2932 fps .75" group
Groups are 3 shots at 100yds and clocked on a Chrony
47.5 gr IMR-4831 140 A-Max 2865 fps .425" group
OAL on the A-Max is 3.13 and 3.075 for the 129 and 130.
Lapua brass and Remington 9.5 primer. Gun shoots the heavier bullets better due to the twist, I think. Barrel is military grade 0 cut to 23.6. Meopta 4-12 scope. Bell and Carlson stock. Weight is 9 lbs. I think I am in love.

You might want to consider slowing your loads down. There is a reason the loads in the various loadbooks are at the level they are. Swede actions may not take the higher pressure loads.

www.hodgdon.com - look for the reloading data center, rifle loads, etc....

From Hodgdon's website....
