SW Pennsylvania long range rifle ranges

I am getting started in the long range shooting game. I have some good equipment but no place to stretch it out.The club I regularly shoot at only has a 200yd range.Ocassionly,I set my plates up at nearby farms but the noise becomes an issue way before I've had enough time to satisfy my need to keep shooting. I am willing to travel some distance but do'nt have any Ideas where.I live west of Pittsburgh about 35 miles.Any help would be greatly appreciated

Tom,
There is a club in Murrysville not far off of Route 60 that a couple of the guys that shoot the Lawrence County varmint shoots belong to. I think it goes to 500 meters. LCSA shoots will begin again the second Sunday in April. If you do not have any luck finding the Murrysville club send an Email to "drags", I know he has shot there. You can come up to LCSA on a Saturday or Sunday and shoot our range to try it out if you are interested in joining. Call the club number to find out which day is open shooting.
Hope to see you there, Sean

lapuatom: Another mention of the Lawrence County Club, just a few miles South of "downtown" New Castle. My son and I shot their 2,3,4,&500 yd varmint match last August. I'm 12 miles South of Pgh., belong to 3 local/closer clubs, but if I were closer to LCSA, I would be a member. 10 position BR range, good solid benches, covered of course, very safety conscious, etc. Check-out their web site-- www.shootlcsa.com. If interested, send me a pm & I can provide you with a name & phone # for the guy who runs the matches, and is a director, I believe. Correction to that: I believe it's 12 benches.

lapuatom: Finally got my "brain map" on-line> There is another club, may be closer to you if you are 35 miles West of Pgh. McDonald Sptms. Club, located about 15 West of Pgh., not far from Pgh Intl. Arpt. East on 22 toward Pgh, then South on 980, a few miles West of McDonald Pa. Out to 600 yds/mtrs., covered, a lot of benches, they also hold long range varmint type matches. I've shot there as a guest, but am not a member.

Tom, you could check out Greensburg sportsman, it out by the Westmoreland Fairgrounds. It has 100 yd. covered benches a 2,3 and 500 yd. range. It also has all shotgun ranges, plus a lot of land to hunt on............jim

I live close to Star Lake ampatheater,Burgettstown).McDonald sportsman is right over the hill from me. I'll check it out.

Lapuatom: yes, McDonald Sptms. is very close to you, and a good club. If you have not already done so, you can go to "maps & directions", and get some "birds eye" views. Direction of fire is North/Northwest, so "sun-in-your face" is not a problem. If wanting contact name/phone#s', send me a PM.
