surgeon actions

are they good enough for benchrest? are they as smooth?

All custom action are better than any rem 700 action and you see quite a few rem 700 action on the firing line. Surgeon makes one of there actions with tighter tolerances if benchrest is your purpose. Surgeon actions are very nice but most are used for tactical type situations/ hunting. I had a surgeon round action and the machine work involved in that action was amazing, but i felt it was a bit to loose for great benchwork. Little did i know at that time that surgeon also made and action with the tighter tolerances. Give them a call they can explain it much better than i can. If you want a surgeon they can hook you up!! I dont exactly know your budget or what typeof benchrest you plan on doing but i might look at something like a Panda or a BAt or even something like the new haverkamp actions. haverkamp offers a lot of features for not a lot of money and they are tight!!! I can give you some info on them if your interested, but to answer your question, nothing wrong with surgeon! Lee
