Surgeon 591 SA single-shot firing pin spring

J F Johannes

AKA "RatRifle"
What is the recommended spring for this action. I thought it was just a standard R700 spring, but when I install a 24# Wolff spring it "snakes" up pretty badly and may have contributed to the breaking of the main spring in my Jewell HVR trigger. The old one is a fair amount shorter than the Wolff. Any help would be appreciated as Surgeon will not return my email inquiries. Thanks

Jim

Call the toll free num. for parts/service. Brian.
I've done that three times and left voice mails. I have also emailed them three times with no response. I have called and talked with Wolff, Brownells, and Midway and they did not know the answer, but at least I talked to someone.

Sorry to here that. Not a good business plan for customer retention. Brian.

Sad to here this about Surgeon, they had excellent customer service when Preston owned the company. This might be a stretch but Pacific Tool & Gauge use to make firing pin assemblies for Surgeon's. I bought one from them several years ago. Speaking of poor customer service, good luck getting anything from them.

The surgeons I have worked with do have a snakey spring. I have done some work in this area and I wouldnt let it bother you.
