Suregon 1581 XL - Stock & Chassis Options
INFO: http://www.surgeonrifles.com/1581
I've been daydreaming of building a boomer on one of these for way too long. ;D
The landscape has shifted a bit since Surgeon owned the market on integral actions and there was that hiccup where no one could get an action for like ever. I don't know the details, if it was a response to customer reactions or just a run for the $ lost to competitors, but it seems they are offering actions for us to build on again.
Anyhow, what chassis & stocks are easily inlet or ready to go for these big heavy actions? I know AI makes a chassis for the XL but I do not know if they are only available through them or not. In a cartridge class of this size I'd like to be hefty and balanced although it will be mostly a ground gun.
I've talked with J Allen and this action has come up in convos. They will make a stock for it someday
If anyone has built a big boomer on both a 1086 and a 1581 and has input on if it's worth the weight for the XL in Lapua or WBY case capacities or straight contour thick & long barrels I'd love to hear the experience and input.
Also is the internal side of the recoil lug the same length as a standard Long Action or is it completely different?
Learn me something. Thanks.
