Suppressors and accuracy?

Just curious as if any of y'all have used them and what effect does it have? Would you use one in a match?

I ask because one of the main places I shoot matches won't allow muzzle breaks and thinking a suppressor might be a good alternative.

I have some good quality quicksilver titanium threaded suppressors. I haven't seen them have any adverse effect....unless it starts to some loose. Accuracy is very dependent on a good secure connection between rifle and suppressor. I think a threaded connection with a class 3 fit is the best option.

Interesting...thanks guys. Oh and Nando, I was asking specifically for benchrest rifles.

Judd,
I have a Thunderbeast 30-p and I can't tell that it hurts the accuracy any... Mostly seems to improve it, but this is on L/R hunting & varminting type rifles. It does give a noticeable recoil reduction though. I shot my very first 600 yd IBS match with it on a 22-6mm hvy sporter bbl. for the recoil reduction. I had an average group size of 5.68" over 8 targets.I didn't think that was too bad for my first match, especially with a hvy sporter bbl. If I didn't have a braked 6 BR now, I'd probably still be using the suppressor (in matches) for its recoil reduction properties. Anymore, unless I'm at the range, and others are shooting unsuppressed, I shoot suppressed all the time; it's just more pleasant. Hope this helps & good luck,

If you're referring to Graham not allowing muzzle breaks, they changed that rule. They will now allow muzzle breaks at all matches.

Thanks guys...good information.

15T - that is one down we need to get Fossil Point to do the same ;)

Only thing I saw is it changed my POI down about 6". Otherwise, shot just as well with it as without it.
