Superperformance & 6.5X284

This seems like it would be a great combination for Long Range match shooters. I had fully intended to try this combination since this powder came out but do to a new job out of the country and shooting strickly Palma in 2011 I havnt had a chance to give it a try. It falls in between H4350 and H4831SC which are two favorites of the 6.5X284 shooters shooting 140gr Class bullets.

Anyone out there give it a try yet in the 6.5X284?

Its my understanding the Superformance is very touchy. From what I have read, its not recommended in calibers that has not been pressure tested with that powder, it seems to be finicky that way. Even the superformance loaded ammo uses a specific blend of the stuff in each caliber. :-[

I contacted Hodgdon about using Superformance in 22-250AI with 75Amax for the same reasons you mentioned above and was told that the only thing to use it in was loads they had listed for the specific calibers. I would think that Hybrid 100V would be something to look into too but I've never heard much about anyone using it. Hodgdon lists it for 6.5x284 with a 142SMK and it says it gets nearly 200fps over anything else they list.

Thank you for the reply. Hodgdon does seem to say that to every one when you call there. My thought is that they havnt tried it in every wild cat out there and its worth a try dispite what is said... Caution is advised of course. Im betting they havnt got to the 22-250AI chambering yet... but maybe. Like Glen mentiones it just hasnt been pressure tested yet or they found it to not work. Kinda like Leverevolution which is designed for the 30,30 and 35Rem but works wonderfully in the 223 with heavy bullets as it is basicly a small grain Varget and fits in the case without compressing the powdercharge at mag length with the 77gr class bullets. Or the 155gr Palma load in 308 which I tested and showed some outstanding preliminary results in accuarcy and low ES SD.
Guess Im a try it and see for myself kinda guy.
Doc:
Indeed not sure Im ready to give up my tried and true 52 to 54gr H4831SC load that has worked in the last 6 barrels... going to try it anyhow when I get home. Too many options nowa days.... remember when everyone shot 308 or 06' with surplus 4895...
Thanks to all that have replied.
