Super Factory Rifle

I have had a Ruger American in .30-'06 for seven or eight years now as my primary hunting rifle and it has been stellar. For a pencil thin #1 barrel it just shoots lights out. I had some left over match bullets laying around so thought I might see how they would perform in this platform.
Sierra SMK 190s over 59 gr. of Reloading 22 put seven shots into one hole and three more on a parallel waterline. Berger 185 VLDs over the same charge did pretty much the same thing when seated .010" off the lands. Even with the blistering hot barrel they shot well. I just may shoot a Mid-Range match with it for kicks.
Wonder if I can have it carbon-wound...

I would continue to enjoy it as a stellar performing hunting rifle. It may not appreciate the barrel heat generated during competition. My worthless $.02 before being adjusted for inflation.

I am amazed how well the RAR shoots, at least most of them. I have a 308 like that and my Wife's Predator CM does the same. I have a M700 that I am thinking about building a 6.5 on but I wonder if I should get a Ruger Go-Wild 6.5PRC and be done, it actually has a 30-06 length action, thou the spec sheet does not say that.

I don't know why you would want to wrap your barrel ?

My son has a ruger American ranch rifle in 223. The thing shoots anything I feed it. It shoots federal fusion 62gr in 1/2” at 100 all day. Nice rifles for the money.
