Sun/Mon coyotes.

A pal & I hit some of the ranches we have Sunday after Saturdays storm blew in hard & we knew they would be out looking for eats.
1st thing in the AM we hit the dead cow pile and before we got close they heard the truck and hit splitsville....all 6 of them! DARN IT! I knew we should of walk/stalked into that spot.
Later we hit a new ranch and after 1/2 mile walk & we set up along the snow banked fence line my pal calls in a pair, one hangs back. DDW has a new decoy dog and Im not wanting to shoot as I cant see where it is just then, as I draw on the coyote at 70 yds maybe, it drops from my sight....pffft I hear a suppressed .243 go off, the calls goes to distress and the other comes running in to see whats going on...DDWs dog sees it, runs out and comes back in, coyote forgets all and gets dropped at about 125 yds as Im pulling my trigger, its 845 am. Ill be faster next time!
We hit the next ranch spot adjacent as we heard more off in that area.
We set up along another snow lined/tumble weeded fenceline and about 14 min into the set we see a coyote trotting in at about 1/3 mile off. We almost gave up....almost until it popped over the ridgelne out there. Its about 5 min working into us. I see it below me, then its gone as I have a small ridge in front of me. Im hoping DDW has it, we are 40 yards apart and Im thinking he can see up that dip. I see a head pop over it, Im on it....MINE...pfffttt...NOOOOO!!
Im 0 for 3, DDW 3 for 3!
Its bitter cold, we see 14 or so total, busted by a few in wide open pasture lands that saw us walking in.
DDW heads home, I stay as Im off Monday.
Up early & set up above the cow pile 545 AM darkish dusk and I can make out 2 coyote forms at the cows eating. I cant make my reticle out as its a fine dot. The snow crunched all the 800 yards into where Im at & Im happy they didnt make me by that time.
Just at 557 am I can make my scope out, put it on one and drop it, I swing to the other and its going to the one I just shot & hits full afterburner. I then see 1 other running w/it so there was 3 in the pile. 20 min later I spot 2 coyotes 700 yards to my left as Im still laying in wait for others. They never come in, must of ate earlier. Well I got 1 anyway...then went home cold & tired.
