Suggestions for overcoming a short magazine box

Rifle is a new HS Precison 2000 sporter bolt action repeater.
The magazine box is crazy short - senseless design for a reputable gun manuacturer.
I'm loading 200 gr Accubonds and 160TTSX
Both bullets have to be seated crazy deep to function as a repeater.
The deep seating is causing poor accuracy.

I'd love to WACK OFF the polymer bullet tip !!!!!!!!
Any suggestions ?

Question I have is the mag crazy short or the chamber throat crazy long? I'm not familar with the bullet you listed but suggest finding another bullet that is jump tolerant like SMKs.

I almost hate to say this, but based upon the issue you've described, you have but two choices if you want to use your rifle as a "repeater." The first is to find some other combination with a shorter bullet that provides more room for an apparent wanting for "jump" room. The second is to go trade or sell that rifle and get another one with a long action/ammo box. I guess a third option might be to call HS Precision and ask them what they'd suggest to help creat more space. The rifle is certainly a very nice one, but sounds like the manufacturer somewhat limited your options for ammo. I've read about and seen some of the HS Precison rifles and they are certainly impressive. I wish you luck in your efforts because I know how frustrating it can get when you buy a weapon that somehow doesn't serve your overall needs.

Thanks for the comments.
I certainly wouldnt modify any bullet noses..
Chamber has defintiely been cut long since the shortest available bullet, Barnes 160TTSX with 50thou jump wont function in the clip.
I'm considering a loading ramp and have it function as a single shot.
I'll contact the factory for their opinin.
Thanks

Cdn,
As a side note, I had my Gunsmith do a caliber conversion recently on a rifle I wasn't happy with and a
22-250 became a 6.5 X55 with a Hart MG barrel. I had some friends getting some incredibly good accuracy in their 6.5's so I started loading VLD's that simply wouldn't fit into the magazine because of the OAL. So what I do now is I have to remove the bolt each time, load the new cartridge into the bolt and re-insert the bolt. Somewhat of a pain in the ars, but man the groups on the target show it's worth the efforts. Good luck.

I'm going to venture a guess that the action is a Remington 700 or "clone".

There are extended magazine boxes available for Rem Short actions that allow up to I believe 2.9xx OAL's. Does require a little machine work (or careful dremel work by a patient person) to remove a small amount of metal on the rear of the action where the back of the mag box is seated.

My rifle performs well with OAL's of that have a .150" jump when I load them to mag length. Strangely enough, better than when I lengthen them for shorter jumps. That's with Nosler Custom Comp's.

If you look at my profile, you will see a photo of my 260 Rem. I had the following extended box fitted to it.

I ordered my BAT repeater action machined for this extended magazine. Gives me 2.9" or slightly more OAL in a short action. Might be worth a try contacting them.
