Sudden high pressure???

I just started running a ladder with rl15 and 108s and I blew out a primer at 31.8 which seems WAY light. So I figured I must have a real fast lot of rl 15. So I went home and tried some Varget started at 30.5 and had up to 32.6. Today I blew a primer at 30.5. Well I have no idea what's going before I had Hybrids shooting over 32.5 gr with no signs of trouble. Well I got home today and got to thinking I might have a carbon ring so I scrubbed that. Now I'm curious what else could be causing this?

It's a Dasher and the barrel has about 1400ish rounds.

The reason I'm trying a different load is I was getting a flier on every target and I seen where Wagner stopped shooting the 105 vld cause he was getting fliers so I figured I would give it a try.

Have you ever heard of a carbon ring? Try some JB or Isso with a tight jag and just work the throat area.

Gordy Mitchell

I think I got her figured out. It was a carbon ring. I measured the neck of a fired piece of brass and it was .2675 and my loaded ones are .267.

How's it goin Gordy? I haven't talked to you in awhile.

When you jam or start in the lands I always add 5000 psi to the start pressure. to give you any answer I need to know water capacity and over length of loaded round along with in or off the lands.i will run it on Quick load

Also may want to check your case length and neck diameter if you haven't already. I do chamber casts with Cerrosafe so I know the actual dimensions of the chamber and can trim/turn as it needs.
Best to you.

Hoier,,,,the thing you really need to check is how you clean the bbl.!!!!! If you are getting a carbon ring in the chamber you are not cleaning it properly or frequently enuff,,,,tell us what your cleaning routine is?,,,,there is a lot lof snake oil out there on the market that doesnt work!!!...and there is no substitute for elbo grease when cleaning your gun,,,,Roger

Well I was just running patches of Montana Extreme till they came out clean but now I learned my lesson. So now I'll be using J-B everytime I clean and I clean about every 80-100 rounds depending on the match.

I had the same problem and I used a little larger bore brush and detected it. although I had just ran a clean patch before. the larger brush brought it out.

I used a 6mm brush to start with (one of the nylon ones), and it was very tight. Went with a 7mm and carefully worked it through the chamber area with JB a couple dozen times. Went back with the 6mm, and it was much better.

I got a significant amount of carbon on my brushes. After a very thorough cleaning with the brushes and JB, mine is back in business after experiencing similar problems.

Good luck.

I won't be able to check if the j-b worked till Friday night but will let you guys know what I came up with but after running the j-b it sure feels a lot better.
