Successful Elk Tag Draw!

Received the email from Co that my buddy and I were successful in drawing a tag for a cow elk hunt in NW Co! Freezer is nearly empty so this can't come too soon. We will begin with a pheasant hunt in Kansas, then drive to Co for Thanksgiving Day and begin the hunt the following morning. As a couple of seniors we need to get in all we can while we can. Now if I can only get him to practice with the rifle more than a week in advance; he kicks my butt fast-drawing on the pheasants though.

What part of KS are you coming to? I've been seeing and hearing pheasant and quail all over.

We are hunting with an outfit in Downs, 5hr from Denver. Normally go to SD but the group hunt timing did not work with that of elk trip. Looking forward to first hunt in Ks.

Good for you! I was just in southwest Colorado and saw my first herd of Elk up close. Those things are BIG!!!!! At first, I thought they were horses!

While you're in Downs don't forget to go over to Cawker City and check out the largest ball of twine in the world. There is some good turf around Downs. Bird numbers should be pretty good.
