Straight 6BR-Berger 105 Hunting or Hybrid?

I have an 8 twist and the Berger 105 VLDH's have been working great for me but I'm about out and no one seems to have them in stock. How do the hybrids work? I see that Berger is recommending a 7 twist and that could be a problem for me.

I've shot the hybrids in my 6slr with an 8 twist without a problem. I just like the hvld for what I'm doing. But like you've said the hvld are hard to find for what ever reason.

Try the hybrids, they might work fine in your 1:8. I shoot 'em in 1:7.5 & 1:7.8 & they shoot a little flattter (~ 1.5 moa @ 600, in 6XC @ 3,050 & 6HAGAR @ 2,850) than the 105's. If you can push 'em w/o trashing brass or blowing primers they'll work great.

I put 2200 rounds through my 6BR with 105 hybrids seated .015 off the lands pushed by 30.0 grains of varget. This combination shot 1/4" or better at 100 yards. I achieved my mid range high master rating with it. Jim Richards shot his 1000 yard record with a 6 Dasher and 105 Hybrids (10 shots!!! 2.6872" record)

im running 105gr hybrids in my 6BR with great results in a 1:8 twist barrel 30.4gr or 2208/varget, best group of 1.6inches at 500m/547yards but most around 2 inch
i'm building a 6BRX atm and have ordered a 1:7.5 twist to be on the safe side but they work for me in a 1:8

MY 6BR DIDN'T LIKE THE HYBRIDS AS GOOD AS THE 105 VLDH AND N-540 450M IT SHOOT BUGHOLES!!!!!!

I was in the same boat a while back bought 1 thousand hybrids on a buddy's advice and after I shot 370 I sold the rest and waited till I found vld's they will be here monday. Did you check grafs and bullets.com?

They had targets, no hunting:(

Are you hunting with them? The hybrid is not a hunting bullet either.
Nope. I shoot these out to 1000 yards. I need the best ballistic coefficient, within reason. See the Burger site for BC's on their 105 Gr. bullets. Not sure why anyone would want the 105 Targets unless they pointed them.

I understand. I have never shot past 600 and i can't tell any difference between the hunting and regular bullets however the hybrid point of impact was over an inch and a half lower than the VLD at 100 yards

I think that's <mudcat> if you're thinking of the same thread / guy I bought from last week.

New member today too, handle's <mudeat> so watch your fingers when doing a search....

my 6br likes the targets, you may have luck with them. in my rifle they have shot many sub 1/2 min 10 shot groups at 1000, and normally shoot well under 2 inches 5 shots at 600. i tried the hunting and they shot about the same, just felt like the targets shot a little more consistent for me.

Been shooting 105 Hybrids in my 6BRX for two barrels with good luck. Then, I couldn't find Hybrids so I tried 105 A-MAX after I found my 284 WIN HG shot them better at 600 and 1000 than the 180 Hybrids!

Guess what, A-MAX is my choice now and they are cheaper! I did re-do the powder ladder and re-tuned my tuner, and I sort the A-MAX by weight. Darn near 30% cheaper than Hybrids! I'm unhappy Hornady replaced the 162 A-MAX in 7mm with the ELD-M at a much higher price. I will have to re-tune when my store of 162 A-MAX goes away. "Course, I have a hunch the ELD-M is an A-MAX with a different color tip, we will see if the tuning matches or not.
