Stolle Panda Big Bore with Anschutz trigger?

Hi all,

I’m going to be purchasing a Panda big bore action for a prone TR project, and am looking at their option to use an Anschutz trigger.

Does anyone have experience with this option, what trigger is used ( guessing at the 5018/5020 series) and is it a drop in or is their additional fitting required? Looking at the 5018/5020 triggers off the top of my head the safety lever needs to be removed but what else in terms of fitting.

With the updated rules allowing a 500 gram trigger I would prefer to use the Anschutz models.

I’ve emailed Kelblys but no answer yet,

Thanks,

I've gone this way back in 1990. The action was milled to accept the 5018 trigger. Remember that you will need a 90° cocking piece that you can get from Gre-Tan.

Gale thanks for the info, they replied to my email but didn’t speak to the interface with the cocking piece. I know from fitting CG triggers to my RPA’s that this area is often the source of problems if not addressed.

I have one. It has the 5022 trigger which is the heavier spring version of the 5018. There is no secondary sear bar. It uses the sear of the trigger to hold the firing pin. I have not had any problems. I went this way because at the time there wasn't any good 2 stage triggers except the Anny. If I was to build the gun today, I would use the Bix-n-andy. About the same money. The action is then setup for Rem pattern triggers so there is a lot more choice. I just don't know how good that sear designed for a rimfire is going to be long term. If it breaks, a new trigger just like it is the only fix.

Walt thanks for the update, in terms of trigger failures have you experienced any to date or more looking down the road at potential repair issues?

I have both Jewell and CG triggers in Remington pattern and they have been good, but wanted to try out the Anschutz at either the 500 gram or 1.5 kg versions in 2 stage. Strange as it may sound my Geisselle NM trigger is my favorite for 2 stage feel, and none of the available 2 stage bolt gun triggers I have tried to date have quite the same feel.

No failures. Just thinking of the possibles. If I was going to a lot of big matches with one, I would take a spare trigger. I really like the bna in my mid range gun. And I have 7 guns with annies in them.

How much is a 5018 these days? With a trigger hanger and a remington pattern match trigger youll be better off in my opinion. There will be a ton of spares at a match for those if you just happen to forget your spare

I had Kelbly's install an Anshutz 2-stage trigger in my left bolt/right port Panda Bigbore in 1989. NO problems! I used it in MS & FC builds for 31 years. Never had to clean the trigger! Still working great when I sold it a few months ago. Any questions call Kelby's.

I have 2 big bores with AHg triggers, just built another rifle but this time went with Bixnandy. The AHg is very good, but for all the reasons Walt noted I wanted a r700 pattern for longer term durability. I haven’t had any issues with my AHg, but trying to avoid them. Geissle makes a really good 2 stage now for r700 that many who like a 1.5lb + trigger really like.
