stock suggestions

Guys I am going to build a walking varmint gun in 6br repeater. I have a tac 30 action on the shelf that needs to do something, so I will use this. I want to stay in the 20-22 inch barrel #4 contour shilen (for cheap price). should I just go with a 1-10 twist for all around bullet selection? most importantly, I am looking for a relatively short and very light stock to use on this prefer a vertical grip, and of course as cheap as possible. I am going to use a 40mm scope 6.5-20 for decent magnification but small size.

so I am looking for some suggestions on a stock that fits this bill. what do you suggest?

The Tac 30 should slip into an Remington BDL stock and they look really good set up like that. People practically give them away after ordering a McMillan or something. I have always wanted to build that exact rifle (Remington clone, BDL stock,Shilen lightweight barrel, jewell and so-on) since seeing one on the cover of a long ago Precision Shooting Magazine. Or you could spend $500-$600 on a new McMillan Mountain rifle stock. Either way it will be a smoking good looking rifle when done. A 1 in 10 barrel should work well also. You can shoot everything from custom target 68 grainers up to the 87 grain Berger VLDs which will take you all the way to 600 yards in style.

The McMillan game scout would meet that need so would one of the new Manner Carbon MCH-EH1 Elite Hunter stocks. They both are light and have the vertical grip you are looking for;However, Both would be close to $600 and that isn't cheap. It's just the cost of doing business I guess. So. You may be able to find one of the McMillan game scouts used. Sounds like a great rifle.
