Stock question

Been shooting a Sav 12 LRPV 1:9. Like this heavy barrel rifle. So I am looking for a BR stock, and ended up back at Savage as they have the one I wanted etc. Anyone have any experience with the Savage BR stock on a Mod 12 LRPV? Big question and I forgot to ask is if the action mounting screws will need to be changed out?

Call the Savage Firearms tech staff.

I have a Sav. 12 LRPV in .223 w/ 1:7" twist that I shoot in FTR class, 600 yd. F-Class. I also have a Sav. BR model in 6-BR that I had re-stocked
with one of SSS Dog-Tracker stocks. This gave me an extra Savage BR stock that my gunsmith bedded to the LRPV .223. The screw spacing was
identical on mine.

With the original stock, it is used for F-Class with a Sinclair bipod. With the Bench Rest stock, it fits perfectly in my Sinclair front rest for Bench Rest
type matches. The screw spacing is different on the "F-Class" Savage model, as I have one of those also (it's wider).

PM me with any questions.

I have an FTR Savage 12 (flat bottom stock), dual port and a couple of LRPVs, RBLP. The action screw spacing is different. When you say "changed out" do you mean redrill for the LRPV action?

This is a photo of my Savage Benchrest Model in 6BR from a few years ago.
This is as it came from the factory. I bought a "Dog-Tracker" stock from SSS (Fred Moreo) and
had my gunsmith put it on this rifle. The stock that you see in this picture fit my Savage model
LRPV in .223, perfectly. No drilling was required.

My Savage target rifles include the Bench Rest model, the LRPV model and the F-Class model.
The Bench Rest and LRPV models (at least mine) have identical screw spacing.
The F-Class model is wider in its spacing.

If I were buying a new stock, I'd look at the aftermarket stocks. I built a Savage to shoot 600 yd F class last year. I shoot it in St. Louis and they have a F class bench open thus I shoot off a bench. I bought the Savage F class stock. It has the flat butt on it. I like the fit and finish of the stock but they really missed it on the butt design. I ended up milling a new profile on the butt to get it to track in the rear bag correctly. I dont have experience with their BR stock but based on the F class stock design, I'd buy one from someone making it for the intended purpose.
