Stock painting or hydro-dipping

Anyone know anyone who could paint a stock like the pictures below? Or hydrodip in a skull pattern without a 8 week lead time and cost an arm and a leg?

Check out gun skins, way easier to install then hydro dipping. I've tried hydro dipping several times and never had one turn out, the videos make it look fairly straight forward but it's really tricky

Mine have come great, try it out on something else before you do the stock, there's usually enough film to do way more than one gun/stock. I coat with clear satin Duracoat after.

We need a gallery for all the beatuful stocks that have been done by members on here.
Call it a drool page!
Towel required! :D

I have a small shop and do Cerakote and dip. I think if a shop doesnt have a lead time and theyre "cheap" that more than likely there is a reason why. It takes a lot more time and expense than most people think to do a job properly. I fix a lot of guns that were done by someones "buddy" or "the guy down the road thats cheaper". Just my opinion

I have a large commercial Hydro Tank Ive played with as a hobby for about 7 years I’d hook you up for free with if I was able to now but that’s not going to happen for a while lol

My only advise is to use a reputable shop, it’s real easy to mess up and just because you get it back and it looks amazing at the time doesn’t mean it was a good job. It could very easily crack or peel 6 months to a year down the road if they didn’t do it right. Theirs a reason most shops are backlogged, it takes time to do it right and it’s a pretty slow process. I’ve used that skull pattern on a lot of stuff over the years, Blue Inferno is my personal favorite but using a different t color with it also leaves a pretty cool finish.

This is the way of the world in many instances. Trying to accomplish a process like Hydrographic coating cheaply is a lost cause. Like everything else in this industry and a host of others, expertise and the proper equipment cost money and requires that the resulting prices are higher than 'Joe down the road'. If you're in a hurry, learn to do it yourself. Otherwise the best are booked up because their abilities get advertised on forums such as this. I thought I hit a gold mine when I found a Hydrographic company in my town. I scheduled an appointment to meet them, tour the facility and discuss arrangements. Ten minutes into the discussion and I was making my exit due to terminal stupidity of the owner.

Painting, on the other hand, is an artform. The cooperation between eyes, ideas and expertise are paramount to accomplishing the artwork that great stock painters achieve. In the best cases, it's a gift which all appreciate and wish we had. The best painters get notoriety quickly and book up fast. If you chose a popular painter, get in line and wait patiently. A lesser known but high quality painter might have a shorter line...;)

Your example of the painted graphics (tan ones) on the stock above can be accomplished by using leaf fronds, some long stem grasses or other natural shapes. Proper paint and several good coats of clear will get you something similar. If you don't like it, sand it down and start over. At least you're on your own schedule and using your own ideas!:)
