Stock Painter Reference

I finally have a stock worthy of a custom paint job (Kelbly 1M), but he guy I wanted to paint it is not taking on any new work at this time (Mike Ricklefs of Webster City, IA). I know there is a lot of painters out there, but I have not found one that does the kind of work Mike has done at such a reasonable price.

Here is a picture of one of Mike's $185 paint jobs, I am looking for some references for some who does similar work.

Mark does the best work I have ever seen.

Hey BEB, I have to agree with you. That is some of the best work I have seen. I plan on giving Mark a call. Do you mind if I ask the approximate price for his work?

Also, you might try Jeromy @ "Dimensions by Holmes" (Has a website under that name). Just had a stock done by him last month, and it is as they say ....."sweet".

I can assure you that it ain't cheap for the kind of work I see in his gallery. People with the talent to do the BEST work already make good money doing it. I'm very fortunate to have a close friend that does my stock paint work.(not close enough to fit my budget at times..lol.) He is superb as well. These people are few and far between though. Pics never do justice to good work, but alot of the detail comes through. Most people have no idea how much time is involved...It's art! I've had stocks with over 40 hours of labor put into them with similar detail as BEB's gorgeous stock. I'd say he had a similar amount of time in his. You get what you pay for in terms of quality and detail with these people, with very few exceptions. The detail is where the bulk of time is, but some of the more popular BR stocks offer their own challenges just to get a slick finish. The old saying, speed costs money...how fast do you want to go?, applies here. The sky and your budget are the only limitations for these artists' work.--Mike Ezell
