stock making

Over my easter break im probably going to have a go at making a stock from a laminate blank. I want to make a prone full bore style stock and then il get a gun smith to inlet the action. I have done a lot of searches without coming up with anything. are there any good sites with good info to help with the process?

Nope, not many. Actually none that I know of. There are a few books on stock making but they are very expensive generally and none cover competetion stocks. Time and money ahead to buy a blank unless you just want the experience.

I went the make it myself route a time or two and have to agree with clowdis, was happiest with a known design well executed by someone who has the tools to do it well. That being said, cheapest way I know is get an inletted, unfinished stock from Richard's Micro-fit (www.rifle-stocks.com) and finish it the way you want it. They will take 6-10 weeks at least and the inletting isn't great but then you will be glass bedding anyway. They do work as intended and have plenty of options on color and combinations.
Have fun, Mike T.
