Stock help

I'm doing a project on a older Rem 700 bdl stock [wooden] and want to put a palm swell on the grip. Can it be built up with Bondo body fill or is there something better to form and get to adhere to the grip?

Plane a flat the side of the swell side and glue a matching piece of wood, reshape and sand, finish.
