Stock for Rem. 700 SA

I need a new stock for a 700 SA and I'd like to have an adj. cheek piece. Stockys' accublock euromatch stock cannot be opened up big enough to accommodate my barrel.

Bell and Carlson has 700 SA target/competition stock with adj. cheekpiece that would work for my application. Any feedback on the quality of these stocks?

Are there any other stocks I should be looking at that won't break the bank???

Chris

Thanks all for the info. Does one need to bed the action with the stocks that have the aluminum bedding block?

Chris

I have 2 of the Bell & Carlson Varmint/target stocks. Love them! Much better ergonomic's than a McMillan A-5. Am building a Hunting rifle on the new sporter version.
My .243 Wssm and a 6.5 Creedmoor are in them. They hold zero.

I second @dwall 's recommendation. That's if you don't mind a chassis. $400 + $ 50 for a aics pattern magazine is not bad at all.

If you prefer an actual stock for better positional handling and carrying then I don't know what's best for your money.

@DirtySteve 's recommendation of the Bravo KRG is a sound idea. I consider the KRG a Hybrid Chassis/Stock. $350 is not bad at all.

If a stock has a aluminum bed, then you don't have to glass bed. Some say it's not a bad idea to skim bed it.., but in my opinion this is a waste of time.

I agree. The Bravo Chassis also uses AICS pattern mags. Area 419 ha good prices on those.

Have you checked out the Boyd's AT-One stocks?

The B@C stock is very nice for the price. Quality is very good on the one that I have. :D:D

Hey Paul,

Does the bottom metal ( hinged floorplate) butt up against the bottom of the aluminum bedding block when tightening the action screws ?

Chris

Not sure what the use would be, but I'm addicted to the Manners stocks. I just ordered my 7th, a few minutes ago. I have several with the mini chassis and they shoot very well, but I prefer using the pillars.

I suggest going to the "stock builder" on the Manners site and go thru the steps, to find what your your inputs will cost you. You don't have to buy and you can play around what options are available. If you're in a hurry, check out the different options on the "stocks for sale" section. There were several S/A stocks listed today. Many of their models have the option for adjustable cheek pieces, adds $195. I like that they're guaranteed for life, though I've never had a problem.

I'm buying that exact stock myself. Unfortunately it's on backorder. I've had similar B&C stocks in the past and they are very nice for the money. There Medalist stocks are just a bit too bulky. I think the Target/Comp is bit less bulky. I'm getting the DMB stock.

ACF, I have a Remington 40X short action stock I have taken off the action. It has had an adjustable comb, and butt stock done by Done Trevor. It includes bottom metal. The rifle was originally chambered in 308 Win. and had a bull barrel. Now the bad part, in a fit of madness I fitted a piece of hard maple to the front of the forestock to use it in F-Open matches. This could be cut down and rounded off to work but I doubt you could get it off. I would sell it for $100 and pay shipping. The wood on the rifle looks pretty good otherwise. PM me if interested.

I like Manners, and have had many. If not in your price range, the next best thing for me is a HS Precision M24.
Some stocks seem to be made to not work w/o an adjustable cheek piece, M 24 not one of them, thought it does come in adj for more coin.

The B&C stock came a couple days ago, looks like it'll work OK and does look well made.

Just have to open up the barrel channel a little.

I better get working on threading and chambering the barrel so I have something to put in this stack.
