It's not a difficult inlet but the ears on the side are going to be fragile. Like above, hand tools will probably be easiest. You might be able to use a small detail saw to remove some of the duplicating stub. I would avoid power tools and really give it the time it deserves.
If you're not well versed in sharpening things like chisels, you will want to learn. The factory edge on chisels does not work well. Also, I think I would make a fixture to hold the stock to work on it before starting anything else. Perhaps even get a block of wood and practice finishing the inlet.

Another tool to add to your kit would be a Dremel with an assortment of wood carving bits. It could be your friend saving time, or your worst enemy cutting more than you want it to.

A Dremel can be helpful if used carefully. A little Dozuki saw can also be a useful tool. The trick is to get things lined up as best as you can and proceed slowly, taking little bits at a time. The idea is to nibble at it. Don’t try to take big bites! Good luck!

Thanks guys it is a slow process but it’s getting cold and I am retired so time is not a problem I made a stock cradle that has helped a lot I know some are going cringe but I used a dremel to cut most of the center notch and some other rough in now it’s sanding and filing the scary part I need to cut about
3/4-1” off the length any ideas I have a table saw miter saw band saw is a hand held Milwaukee
porta band

Make a sled to securely hold the stock and cut it on a table saw. Wrap tape around the stock to limit chip out. Finish shaping the outside of the stock and the recoil pad after cutting the lop.
