Stiller Tac-30 is one heck of a Action.

This thread is a shout out to Stiller for producing one hell of an action!!

For anyone looking to purchase a amazing action for long range shooting and may have been wondering how the Stiller Tac-30 stacks up against all the other options. My 6.5x47L was built on a Stiller Tac-30 action; I chose this action for many reasons, quality, accuracy, ruggedness, & appearance. When building my 1st tactical rifle my smith recommend Stiller and after talking with Russ I knew Stiller was the company I wanted to deal with. I have mentioned many reasons in the words above that would be more than adequate reasons to choose a Stiller Action for your next build but if that doesn't do it for you check out the results below.

My home range is Manatee Gun Club, which is known to produce notoriously difficult conditions.

Personal Best 5-Shot 600yd group: .833

There aren’t many Tactical Matches in my area so I shoot in the Bench rest matches at Manatee. I’m unsure if there is a tactical class in Bench rest so I assume my rifle would fall into the light gun category considering its weight is under 17lbs. All the matches I shoot in consist of both heavy and light guns with most being high dollar bench rest rifles.

Match Wins, which were the last two I have competed in.

1000yd gong Match that I won by 3 hits

600yd IBS Paper Match at Manatee Gun Club:
Group 1: 1.829"
Group 2:1.916"
Group 3:1.459"
Group 4:2.159"
4 group Agg: 1.839" (Club Record)

My .308 FTR rifle is built on a Stiller Tac 30 action. As you say, it is well built. Mine has bottom metal so I can shoot with a mag in our Field Precision Rifle matches.

A 1.8" agg at 600 with a tactical rifle is pretty amazing. I'd be giving your shout out to who ever made that barrel.

At my suggestion, a number of friends have built rifles based on various Stiller Remington clones. Both they and I have been very impressed with their quality and appearance. They have all been hunting rifles, built with top level components, and gunsmithing, and their accuracy has been uniformly excellent.

You beat me like a rented mule.

Now it looks like you are motivated to do it again. That's actually a good thing. Keep it up.

I own one rifle with a Brux barrel and it is the ONLY rifle I own that will shoot the very first round from a completely clean cold bore with the same exact POI as any other round afterwards. Norm is a true master of his trade :)

Yes it is a great action and your barrel is at least as good. It takes more than that however to shoot like you do. Great gun smithing, great ammo making and great shooting.

Congrats!

I don't have any complaints of quality, I just wish I chose a dual port P1000 or a similar Bat action for my type of shooting.. Tac 30/Tac 300 and Predator are good solid action in my opinion...

I like the Stiller Tac 30. I've been waiting for Curtis actions to finish up and look at theirs. I'm going to build a custom in the future. I do like the Stiller.... Great shooting, wish I lived a little closer. Back when I lived in Palm Beach County I shot Manatee twice a month, nice range.

Yep I love my 6.5-47L built around a Steller TAC 30. Just simply love it! Here is a pic of mine.
