Still looking to see if anyone has tried the 6mm Atip's?

Has anyone tried the Atips yet ? I've shot some recently with various results. First I have to say that this is the most Consistent bullets that I've ever measured. The basi is very high. I'm not sure what the BC actually works out to be but it's better than a 105 or 108 Berger for certain. Going to work up a load in the next couple of days to test them out. I have heard that the 6.5 are shooting very well, maybe even superb. But not much on the 6 mm's. Let me know if you have tried them out. BTW, I did shoot some of the factory Berger's with the 105's that the sell in a match ammo and awesome!!! Just awesome!!!

I'm going to wait them out till Hornady realizes that they wont sell to the masses and the price will become more reasonable. There are some really, really good bullets out there now that are proven winners that are far less costly. While I respect their idea of the quality they put into them I'm just not sold on the cost.

Gavin Gear on UltimateReloader just did a video shooting 135gr ATips from a 6.5 Creedmoor. He got about 1/2-MOA shooting at 100 yards RPR prone from bipod, no wind flags I could see. He says that's about as good as his rifle will do. I don't know anybody who has done a serious accuracy test with a proper benchrest rig and front/rear rest. Look at the group. Most of it is vertical. I attribute much of that to his shooting set-up. He had some other groups that were bigger, but I think there may be other factors. I think the accuracy is promising...

I've been "playing with" the 6mm 110s for a month or so. Of the 150 that I've measured for bearing surface there has only been 0.001 difference, and that could have been me. I recently shot them in a 600 yard match along with 108 bergers. They shot as good as, but not better than the 108s. At 2X the price I'll probably not shoot many more.

Are the 6mm A-Tips shipping now? Mine have been on order direct from Hornady along with samples of both 6.5 weight bullets.
The 135 & 153 6.5 bullets have been received for a while but no 6's as yet.
I've not even opened the 135 grain bullets but the 153 grain is a very nicely made bullet and shows a lot of promise for my 6.5PRC.
I say that because I did no work up, instead just loading it 10 off with a middle of the road load of Retumbo. It is already showing to be a vast improvement over the previous 140 ELDM loads I shot.

Started testing some of the 110 A Tips in my 6 Creed recently and found a node very easily with H4350. Shot them at 100 for testing and have loaded up some more to do some longer range testing. The 40.8-41.2 area with H4350 got me in the 3020fps range I was looking for.

This is exactly what I would have expected and right on the money. The A-tips are a huge leap forward for Hornady but the reality is that they leaped forward to "catch up" to other bullet makers.

What brass and primer? This is good info

That explains the loads a bit. Bigger chamber volume on the Hornady brass and large primers. Thank you, exactly the type of replies that I'm looking for.

Also the bullets don't mind a jump. I have a .183 freebore chamber for the 108 ELDs and with the 110s they are jumping a good deal. Off the top of my head I would say about .090"+. They don't seem to mind.

Yup the BCs like the ELDs are very accurate and achieved through Doppler testing. Not pumped up higher numbers like some companies do.

I've shot about 200+ rounds of the 135 and 153 6.5mm bullets from 117 yards and out to a 1k yards. No complaints what so ever. Accuracy is excellent and I'm running them thru a 1-6.75 twist barrel. So I'm not exactly being easy on them twist/rpm wise. The 135's are running just over 2800fps and the 153's at 2700fps out of 6.5CM and a 23" barrel.

I only got my hands on 22pcs. of the 6mm 110 bullets. I loaded up 20 rounds in my 6BRA which has a 1-7 twist barrel. Distance was 117 yards and 430 yards. Again no issues with accuracy etc...I only wish I had more of them right now. They shot right around 1/4moa with no load work/tuning at all. In the BRA and my load the bullets averaged 2822fps.

A week ago I shot the first 230gr. ATIPs thru my F open rifle which is in .300PRC. That rifle I've shot it out to a 1k yards with 225 ELDM's and 230SMK. 1-9 twist barrel and the velocities where running at a honest 2900fps and both bullets would hold a 1/4 moa for vertical at a 1k. I shot the 230 ATIPs last week Saturday at my house. I didn't clock them for velocity. First time out and I ran the same powder and powder charge as the 225's and 230's. First group at 117 yards including my called low shot for the 2nd round fired measured a .474". The other four measured a .257" which included the first round fired. The 3rd, 4th and 5th round fired measured a .201". I dialed up 5.5min and put a .5min. left windage on the gun and went to my 430 yard target and fired a .74" group which comes out to be about a .16moa. That backs up the group at 117 yards. The bc numbers and ballistic app where right on the money as well. I quite shooting there. I've got more loaded but it's a waste to shoot them at short distance. Gotta get the gun out to a 1k yards now and see how they do there.

So you want to try them. Try them.

A couple of pic's

These are the 6.5mm/153 Atips at 430 yards. My ring is on the group for a size comparison. The o.d. of my ring is .920".

Next couple of targets was the .300PRC. Right target was from a cold clean bore. Not knowing what the 230's where going to do (wasn't worried at all) I figured I'd shoot a fouler shot thru the barrel. Then next 5 where the ATIPs on the left target.

I bought 500 of them to test. I'm leaving for the nationals in the morning at Hawk Ridge in NC. I just wanted some feedback and load data to look at. Those 6.5's look Phenomenal I just haven't gotten any reports about the 6 mm yet.
