still in awe !!! 30br

I have a newly built 30br that will flat shoot anything!
This round amazes me every time i take it out,i never thought i would find anything that could out shoot the 6ppc until now.
Here are some groups this rifle has shot....

1st group is @ 300 yards 10 shots at a steel plate 110 vmax.
2nd groups are fire-forming @ 100 yards all 5 shot groups
3rd group is @ 500 yards 5 shots Knight 118 7 ogive..

I would like to give a special thanks to Jon Beanland for building such a fine rifle his craftsman ship and attention to detail is outstanding..
I would also like to give a special thanks to Butch Lambert for helping me out with a very very good shilen barrel...

Would you be so kind as to give us some more technical details on your rig!
Action looks like a Rem 700.
Stock?
Reamer design used?
Twist rate of the barrel? Length?
Velocities you are getting.etc!
:)

Regards
Frans.

Mason and myself had these rifles built at the same time by the same smith. Unfortunately i have had some hang ups with mine but it should be home this coming week. Jim is an outstanding shot to begin with but he is for sure very impressed with this rig. I only hope mine shoots half as good!! I have had a bit of trouble with the trigger hanger on my action and now the ejector. It almost seems if mine is tainted. LOL!! I think it will be fine once we get all the little bugs worked out. Jon Beanland is our smith on these 30br rifles, and he is an outstanding rifle builder. I will let jim tell the rest if he wishes. Good shooting Jim, I will be out to play this next weekend with a little luck!! Lee

Hey jim lets see that awesome 10 shot group you shot the other day. This rifle of his really is a hammer!!!! I simply couldn't believe it. It will whip any of the ppc guys we shoot local with!! Lee

You going Friday Lee ? That group measured .193 10 shots @ 100 yards not to bad for a 12 pound Remington...Ill get a picture up soon..

Sorry Butch this one is welded to the gun never to come off until round 6000..:D

If you have any more 30cal barrels hanging around your thinking about selling don't forget about me..
Thanks again.

Butch

Butch, there are ALOT of great 30 cal barrels out there now hu..!

Mason,
'IF' you are not using flags, you are doing your 30BR and ALL your rifles a disservice... I'm sure Butch would agree.

Great shooting at any rate. The 30BR is a tremendous round... Mine too will agg in the low twos and ones,in real world windy conditions). Capable of agging with the 6ppc. But a TUNED 6ppc and shooter will most likely beat the 30BR shooter in a group match @ 100/200 yds >>less recoil/more consistent handling<<.......... Now Score........Not so likley.

Butch see ya at the IBS,
cale

I always shoot over wind flags most of the time. I started shooting short range benchrest about 5 years ago, started out with a cheap sleeved Remington i bought from bob white.
I was so impressed by the little ppc i got hooked,, a short time later i moved up too a Bat built by Bob Green and all the equipment to compete.. After shooting the ppc for some time i really didn't think there was anything out there that could compete with it UNTIL i had a 30br built!!! maybe i got lucky and got a great barrel but after seeing a Friend shoot his i don't think that's it..I truly believe it can and will shoot with the ppc the only regret i have is i should of had it built on a Bat action..

Mason, you and Lee should come down to Denton for the IBS shoot in October. It's Oct 11 and 12. I'm sure Cale will be there. I met him last weekend in Denton when I was invited to shoot in the 200 yard match there. It was my first time shooting in a match, and those guys helped me a lot, thanks Cale).

I just got my 30br up, but it's not running yet. I have everything but pills. I ordered some from Ronnie Cheek, and they should be here any day. I went ahead and went first class on mine and did have it built on a BAT action.

I can't wait to get to know this caliber everyone is raving about. I hope mine shoots as good as yours.

I sure would love to but I'm shooting in ST Louis twice next month.. I'm going to try out Mr.30 @ 600 yards at one of them  YA,YA,I KNOW BUT I have a friend i shoot short range with that's making me some 118gr boat tails, you guys might know him George Ulrich he makes some outstanding bullets.Ill let you guys know how they shoot as soon as i get my grubby paws on some..

Howdy Wes,

Good news...! Hope ya have a ton of fun with your new toy!
Short range BR is VERY ADDICTIVE... If your like me, ya just cant get enough! Gotta shoot a smaller and smaller agg... Gotta shoot more, more X's....!
The NTSA guys at Denton WILL steer ya right... Great bunch!

Sorry Mason for the hijac...

P.S. Wes,'If' the BIB's don't come in time for the IBS.. The Berger 115gr WILL cut X's for sure!

See ya at the IBS,
Cale Roby
