Steiner Military M5Xi 5X25

Bought a Steiner Military 5X25 for a custom 338 Lapua Mag. rifle just had built. Went to sight it in and was surprised to learn that the elevation and windage turrets were reversed. The Elevation Up direction on the turret actually caused the horizontal crosshair to elevate, resulting in a lower point of impact and the windage same thing---Left adjustment on the turret resulted in moving the point of impact to the right. If that was not enough, the zero stop would prevent easily adjusting the point of impact higher. Anyone ever here of this with Steiner scopes?

Got some good news today. Steiner has stepped up to responsibly resolve this issue. They are going to send me the "Blemished" scope to use until they can get a new scope to send me. I think this is very reasonable. I look forward to getting a scope asap, so I can start shooting my new 338 Lapua Mag right away and eventually get my new scope. :)

I think you may be confused. (though you would be the 3rd person I've been on the range next to that swore that his new hunting scope had the turrets installed backwards) or you have a CW turret version if Steiner actually made them, I know S&B makes them both ways, don't know if Steiner does.

The zero stop on a Steiner M5Xi can be confusing at first. In order to lower your poi below the "0" if the rifle is shooting too high at 100 yards you loosen the set screw on the turret, dial up (if the screw is loose it doesn't change the elevation. i.e., "click") and tighten it back, now you can dial down to get to your 100 yard zero.

I have an M5Xi with an MSR and I think it's a great scope.

No confusion. Steiner acknowledges the problem. They have had about 12 or so with this issue. While they make turrets for both ways, the Zero Stop prevents ease of adjustment to raise the POI. The Zero Stop on this scope needs to stop turning from Zero in the opposite direction than it currently does.

With this scope and the Zero Stop engaged and the scope is zeroed at 100 yds, to adjust the scope to shoot at 500yds would require that I loosen the 2 set screws and move the turret enough to for the 500yd dope then tighten the screws then turn it back. Not an easy process with the Zero Stop engaging in the opposite direction. With this scope I and it being zeroed at 100 yds, I could easily adjust the POI down---just not up. That is the problem. Am sure I will love the new scope they will be sending that does not have this problem. Look forward to getting it.

OK, so if I'm understanding this it sounds like what they have done is put a CW zero stop on a CCW scope (or vice versa).

Got the Blemished Scope Steiner sent me to use until they can send me a new scope. The turrets and cross hairs move in the correct directions, allowing the zero stop to operate as designed (easy adjustments for elevating the POI). Look forward to shooting it this week and look forward to getting my new scope.
