Took the 3 hour drive to Manatee Shooting Club this morning. Went straight to the 600 / 618 to the steel targets. Brought my AR .308 and my AR .223. Dialed in the dope from my last visit and was rewarded with a loud CLANG from the .308 from the first shot. Went through about 25 rds of .308, 168 SMKs and 25 of Sierra 175 TMKs. About 3/4 moa verticle difference between them @ 618.
Okay, I didn't get a CLANG with every round on the 10" discs. Was trying to move impact points around the plate & failed once or twice (or more)
Then assaulted the same plates with the .223 with its 24" Krieger barrel, using 77 gr, Sierra TMKs.
That poor plate hadn't a chance. Got bored, so the shards of the clay pigeons spattered on the berm from other shooters got my attention with the .223. Did not hit every shard but I scared the hell out of the ones I missed.
A great day at a great range run by good honest shooters at a great range, open to the public.
Open to the public, perhaps a word of caution here. The shooting public is welcome IF they are safety conscious, IF they are serious about their shooting. Read this as Yahoos and crazies are NOT welcome.
