Steel plate thickness for .243 caliber

HI,

I want to make a backstop at 110y,100m) from a steel plate. How thick would it need to be to take .243 bullet over and over again?

regards, dejan

Really it would depend on material type. If you are using just cold steel i'd say probably 3/8" or 1/2". But with an AR type plate instead of cold steel 1/4" holds up all right for me, shooting .243 with 100g bullets.
