A note on this: Very handy instrument, I use mine to check my bedding for stress. Pad the V notched clamp with a strip of leather and put on the barrel the clamp about an inch from the end of the for-stock. position the clamp so you can thread the extension rod in over the forestock. Mount indicator with the button against the forestock with a few thousands preload. Clamp the rifle vertically by the butt stock in a padded vise and alternately loosen the action screws one at a time. Perfectly stress free bedding job should show "0" movement I start looking for high spots etc if I see over .00015 movement.

Boss and seller, not trying to hi-jack or disrupt the post. Contributing in case someone hasn't thought of this use for a set up that is generally used to align shaft coupling flanges.
