Starline 223 brass?

I've use their pistol brass and it was very good. However I realize there can be a big difference between pistol and rifle brass with regards to expectations and precision reloading.

I've tried the Hornady 223 brass and found it to be excellent. I'm on my third bag of 50. No culls for defects and I got 15 reloads before I started encountering neck splits.

Anyone use Starline 223 brass? Any good?

I got a bag of 250 and formed 100 into 20 Practical brass. The case weight is greater than Lapua and the case capacity is less. The case necks are thicker also. Overall I was pleased with the brass.

If I buy again, I am considering buying the 5.56 x 45 for the harder case heads.

Out of 1000 pieces maybe 60 or 70 measured 1.75 trim to length.
To me this was a short comming.
Edit... I never said it was bad brass it has good quality.

Did the brass work good for 20 practical ?

It worked just fine. My chambers have .233" necks, and any less you would have to turn the necks to have adequate clearance.

One anomaly I encountered, during use. I wet tumble in the STM system with the 0.255" long pins. Only in the Starline brass, occasionally (about 5% of the cases) pins will lodge sideways in the case near the flash hole. I have never had this happen on any other 223 case. But I now know to check the brass and remove any lodged pins.

And it's on sale at midsouth

LC is excellent brass, a little higher water capacity than Lapua and shoots just as well. I recently purchased the 1000 virgin from Midsouth and just finished weigh sorting; actually a little less variable than Lapua. Surprised the flash holes were also very clean with nothing to deburr. With these 1000 I don't foresee needing to purchase anymore for my Ftr.

I use thousands of the Starline handgun cases,,loaded up 500 rounds of their 223 brass last week, very satisfied. Done no trimming at all, couldn't have got them any closer.

Anyone use Starline 223 brass? Any good? Thanks Allen
Allen,
If you are loading for an AR, or a bolt gun Graf & sons has the best deal on unprimed LC 223. If for an AR get a small amount of the Starline 5.6 x45 and some of the LC, if for a bolt gun, get the Starline 223, and the LC, and do a compairison of weight, and length and see which has the lowest SD of length & weight.

I bought some last year and really like it. I recently chrono'd the same load in both LC and Starline brass. The Starline averaged 15 fps faster and had a standard deviation of 4 fps while the LC had a standard deviation of 13.

Those who are buying LC brass from Mid South is it LC or FC headstamped?

Thanks. I bought 1000 LC from Midway a while back and it's FC stamped. Not needing any more any time soon, just wondering what they were selling.

Just for comparison, doe s anyone have a weight on the new LC stuff? My FC is running in the range of 93gr.

Weight sorted mine into .5gr bins from 91.5 to 93.0.
