Stanley Easling, Did you know of him?

My childhood was growing up around a couple old gentleman but I was to young to really know him (Stanley H Easling). He was a friend of the family, used to reload for my Grandfather and was Friends with my shooting mentor Dick Vanetten. Dick would tell me stories of Stanley making these long shots with a 25-06 he necked down to 22 cal (.22-06 Easling).. I was told or reminded of him from a fellow member and was always told about him but couldn't find much info on the great web..I was just wondering if anyone new him and could share some info, good or bad

That cartridge is shown in the Ackley Handbook for Shooter and Reloaders vol.11. Necked down and shortened 30-06 developed by Mr. Easling. 89 grain .224 bullet with 59 grs H870, mv 3455. Should be one bada## deer killer. Barlow

He shot a deer from Dick Van Etten's house to where my Aunt lives now with that gun a little over 500y. Dick use to tell me he had trouble with bullets coming apart, probably now days with slower powders and thicker jackets that round would be almost practical ..

There both long gone now, Stanley Easling was there since the beginning of the sport...He lived from 1915-2007

Ray, I remember that Stanley did mention he being a friend of P.O. Ackley. On deer he put me in touch with 60gr hp's for my 22-250, and by the geeezus he was right! -Ron
