The price difference is vary little, and for me its not a factor, but the best stainless is what #401 (I think) and I have BR barrels in both. And the CM Steel shoots just as good. And in the larger scheme of barrels, I suspect more have been made from hard steel than Stainless, over the years.
I know Stainless is better in the rain, but that's not a factor for me either. One of my 6BRs is C.M. Steel, and shoots as good as any of my others, and the barrel and action I did in matt black to match the scope, so you would never know.
My most expensive barrel (308) fluted, cut rifling, is in stainless, but then its coated in matt black Teflon.
So which shoots the best, lasts longer, cleans easier etc?
Whats your opinion?
Mike.
