Staball HD in 6.5 PRC

This morning I shot 2 charge weights to see how it is in colder temps.

22 degrees F
10 mph N wind directly behind me
160 yards

Shot 60 grains, 3 shots in approximately 10 seconds with cold bore, at .975”

Waited about 10 minutes.

Shot 60.3 grains, 3 shots approximately 10 seconds at .698”

Other than some left to right difference and a hair lower, it’s shoots very close POI to 55 grains of VV N560. Brass (Lapua) looks good, no difference in primer appearance between the different powders.

Bullets were Berger 135s, touching the lands.

I’ll probably load today and shoot tomorrow morning with the same routine.

I did not.

I’m still fireforming, there are 24 rounds down the barrel at this point. I wanted to see how it grouped more than anything.

Might do that tomorrow.

23 degrees F, low was around 18 overnight. Left the rifle and ammo in the truck overnight.

3 rounds 60.3 average 2918 FPS

3 rounds 60.9 average 3003 FPS

Primers (Fed GMM LRP) look fine. 60.9 was a little crunchy seating the bullet.
