St. Thomas Groundhog Shoot results

We had 104 guns fight the windy but beautiful Saturday with Roy Hunter showing everyone how it is done with a 144/150. Over $2000 in drawings completed a great shoot. Check out the website for a complete list of scores http://www.geocities.com/groundhogshoot/Oct20.html
Thanks to all, hope see everyone after the paper hogs take a short winters nap.................Barry

Glad you had a great Match.

Roy demonstrated the long-range potential of the 30BR with his 5-point win over a bunch of great shooters in custom class. The 6BR and 30BR were the most popular chamberings in custom class:

In factory class, the 22s topped the 30s, with a .223 Rem, 22-250, and .223 Rem, finishing 1-2-3. Ed Harshman was a wizard with his .223. His 133 total beat the field by three points:

Bill Slattery shot an 83 score to finish first in Deer Hunter class, shooting a .243 Win. Five out of the top 10 in DH shot 243s.

What is interesting to me, as an editor, is that the Cartridge Guides for this website do include all of the calibers represented in the top 15 of Factory and Hunter Class, except for a single 300wsm rifle, one 7-08, and one 22-250. The 300WSM and 22-250 chamberings are #1 and #2 on our "to-do" list for upcoming Cartridge Guides.

So if you want an accurate rifle for varminting, the choices are pretty clear. Overall the factory class rifles also performed very well. This proves how accurate the .223 Rem can be.
