Spray Stick Um

Back in 90s when I was shooting XTC High Power service rifle, I learned about and used a specific spray adhesive on my glove, butt plate (M1, M1A and A1 butt plates) and prone rapid elbow on the mat to keep things in place and not slip. Also worked on A1 and A2 hand guards but really didn't need it with an A2 butt plate.

I can't seem to find any at all the usual supply places. Has using stick um fallen out of favor? Nobody using it anymore? What's the story on that?

I'm almost ready to jump back in the game. I have about half a can of it left over from 30 years ago.

With the lower recoil of 223, I think it's fallen out of 'fashion'.

You might also ask over on http://www.usrifleteams.com in the National Matches forum. It's dedicated to 'cross the course'.

Hawkeye was one of the Brands
Cramer another.

Does anyone know if the old Hawkeye Shooting Adhesive is the same product as the Creedmoor Sports Rifle Grip????? The old Hawkeye Shooting Adhesive would really glue you to the mat. IT

Cramer's Firm Grip is the same thing as Creed's, I think. Baseball pitcher's mound rosin works cheap.

Above info from 2014 posting on M-14 Site.

I don't think they are the same. Glued myself to the mat once with Hawkeye, never happened with the Creedmoor stuff. Still have a couple cans of Creedmoor, just in case I ever decide to go back to the M1A.

I believe the low strength 3M spray adhesive will accomplish the same thing as the old stuff we used back in the day.
