Spotting Scope Stand For FTR?

About to enter the world of mid-range FTR shooting (600yds) next month - joined Port Malabar in Florida this weekend, and have been equipping myself with gear for the past year, and a good spotting scope stand is one of the final items on my list.

My Celestron Ultima 80mm refractor scope is upgraded with a Baader (German) angled 20-60x zoom eyepiece, and works great at 600 yds, but I won't be able to use my camera tripod when shooting prone to read the wind from the mirage. My scope is pretty solid and heavy, so it needs to be a quality stable stand. Bottom line, which model scope stands are the most popular nowadays, and why? Not sure of the advantages of bipod vs. tripod. Seen some nice one's by searching online (i.e., Gearbuggy, Ray-Vin, Creedmoor, Freeland, etc.) but I have no clue what features I should be considering to make my decision. I tend to prefer to buy right and pay up the first time, that way I don't waste my time with having to upgrade later.

I realize this question's been asked before, but I performed a search on this site and couldn't find a recent thread.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, so thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

The Ray-Vin with the outrigger, and the Eclipse easy to adjust head, looks like a nice way to go - I'm leaning in that direction. With regard to the two height options Ray-Vin offers, any suggestion on weather to go with the 48" or the 60"? Both lengths will work shooting prone and sitting in a chair looking down range. Are there any scenarios where the 60" rod will come in handy in FTR? Sorry for the simple questions, but I am complete soon to be rookie at the FTR thing.

Unless you are scoring on a barstool, you won't need a standing length stand.

I would recommend the Eliseo spotting scope head over the Ray-Vin. It is much easier to adjust while in position.

Giraud scope stands work very well. Made in Richmond , Texas. Perk

I bought the Creedmore mostly because I'd seen it used by so many shooters on the competition line. The attachment head is solid and the height is versatile because the post comes in three sections. I will say, I expected better stability/post firmess even using two posts screwed together for spotting from a Benchrest seated position. My inkling is the further apart the feet on the base, the more stable the post. I doubt there would be much movement from a prone position (which I've not tried), but there's little chance of the Spotting Scope falling over with the Creedmore and the attachment head is both very versatile and easy to adjust in several ways.
