Ever seen one come loose at 200 RPM. They don't come all the way out of the chuck. You run these at very low rpm. Usually less then 200.
My advise with spiders/catheads is to keep that exposed thread to a minimum. There is play in threads and long exposed screws like this one will cause shift in the part being held. Make the ID just big enough to hold what you want. Like others have said, only hold the front receiver ring, its very hard NOT to induce a bend in an action holding the rear bridge. You have to hold them so light they want to shift. Just pay attention to what you doing and check everything. You will soon find much better ways to accomplish the job with better results. Dont spend time making your tools pretty, if they dont work out perfectly they go in the scrap pile and you will come up with something better. If you spend too much time making a piece of jewelry you will want it to work...
Mine is 11 years my elder. I'm 61...!My SB13 is as solid as a rock. Pretty good for being as old as I am.
