Spex lite

Was wondering if anybody tried any of this product for a short range, rear bags, mainly in the ears I was thinking to try some mainly for conformity not necessarily for lightweight, but thought I would see if anybody has tried any. The ones I was looking at was 2511 and 5235 thank you

I’ve been using SpexLite from Box to Bench Precision for quite a while in my PRS and NRL22 bags, and recently I decided to try it in some of my Edgewood and Protektor bags for F-Class.

I ordered 2511 Sand, 5125, and 5235. My main bag fill ended up being roughly 4 cups of 5125 and 2 cups of 5235 in the bottom half of the base, with the rest filled using 2511 Sand.

For the ears, I would avoid 5235. It’s too coarse to conform well. I used straight 2511 there, although I think a mix of 2511 and 5125 could also work nicely.

I think F-Class John uses a similar blend in his bags, and he may have videos covering it.

Do you think the 2511 worked better for conformity than regular stand or was the main reason you used it was for weight? I am shooting short range Bench rest so weight is definitely not an issue. Just was wondering about maybe something a little less dense in the ears maybe, had an issue with straight silica sand, but it might’ve been filled too much, but Gun would seem to come out, not stay down in between the ears sometimes, just was a thought of trying something else. Thanks for the info.
