spell check

Since the upgrade last weekend my 'spell check' is inoperative. Am I not doing something correctly? (Aside from poor spelling).
When I hit 'spell check' the white square in the upper left quarter is blank. This only happens when responding to a post. The misspelled words when writing still produce a red squiggly underline. Thanks.

Put the curser on the underlined squiggly misspelled word. Then right click on it. A list of correctly spelled words will pop up. Select the one you had in mind. Then, move on.

Thanks outdoorsman I never knew that. Matt

The biggest problem with spell check is it can't tell the user when to use their or there or they're. Also your and you're. Also to, too, and two.
Those are the most frequent mistakes I see on this forum.
Here's a good example for the first group of words. They're used to seeing their targets over there.
And the second group of words. You're going to miss your target.
And the last group. Are you two guys going to the range, too?
;D ;D ;D

+1 on disposing of those Windows Deus ex machina :P

Not to belabor a point, the two clicks required on a Windows 'puter are a waste of energy. On a Mac, simply click w/ two fingers on the trackpad to bring up the drop down list. 8) ::)

Understood and I do that. However when replying to a post there is a icon in the lower right that asks "spell check". It only produces a blank screen on the upper left. Prior to the update it gave in the upper left the post AND the reply with highlighted misspelled words.
Flawless? No, but it helped. Weatherby always came up as being misspelled.
Bottom of reply has ---POST-----PREVIEW----SPELL CHECK that is what I am referring to.

Also break and brake. As in, "Give me a break and don't use that muzzle brake on the bench next to me." And your muzzle brake is a Vais, not Vias. And your Leupold scope isn't a Leopold, or a Luepold. And "definitely" and "defiantly" are two different words. And ... I hope that there are no copy editors among us. :o

We are trying to de-bug this one.

The spell-checker, as we see it, IS working inside the text-entry box. We are seeing little red lines under a potentially mis-spelled word. However, for some people, when they click on the "Spell Check" button on the lower right, next to the "Preview" button, a window launches that is blank.

For the time being, please use the internal spell-checker (simply right-click on word entries with red lines).

Your browser (assuming you aren't using something seriously old like IE6 or 7) will have better spell check functionality than the built in checker anyhow...

Thanks.....that is exactly what I was referring to (the blank box). Should have paid closer attention in school and then it wouldn't have been needed!!LOL

Decades ago a cute little poem made the rounds of the tech community.
ISTR this was before MS Word so we're talking old.
I found it here -
