Speer bullets

I recently came accross two different boxes, one yellow plastic and the other black plastic. Both boxes are marked 62 gn FMJ 22 cal and have the same part number,#1050. However when I opened the boxes, both bullets were different in length. The yellow box held bullets that were longer with a gentler slope to the ogive the other Black box bullets were stubbier.
Both bullets have a cannelure at roughly the same distance from the bullets base and both are boattail as well.
Does anyone know why the change in the style of bullets?

I can tell you that the yellow box is an older lot than the black box. Other than that, I couldn't tell you why. I experienced the same thing with some 6mm 70gr Nosler Ballistic tips. The older ones I had were different length, base to ogive, than the newer ones. You're guess is as good as mine!
