Speer 6mm 70gr. TnT in .243 Win?

Any of you folks out there had good luck with the Speer 6mm 70gr. TnT in .243 Win? I have a Savage Varmint action with a McGowen Savage varmint taper in 12 twist 26" long that I might possibly run these bullets through! I want to hear it all! Good, bad, and indifferent! Thanks! Also, which powders are best for the lighter bullets? Thinking H414 and slower but, not sure! Thanks again!

I am using them in my .243. 70 Speer TNT, 39 grs of AA 4064, Winchester Large Rifle primers. I have had five shot groups as low as .187:) That said, my average is probably in the .6's. This bullet has shot just as well as any other that I have tried and I have tried a lot of different brands & weights.

I shot them in my bullberry 234 on a encore frame that has a 1/10 that shoots them 3/4 inch. My remington vls 243 shoots them great with a 1-9 1/8

I use them in .22/.243/.257 cal. They shoot well in a couple 243AI's doing up to 3900, with W760 and H414. One barrel is 9-1/2 twist, the other is 13". No problem with even the fast twist. These are very smooth barrels. Don't know about a McGowen, never had one. You'll have to shoot the bullet and see. But TNT's are accurate and explosive.

Thanks everybody for your feedback! Right now the rifle likes 70gr. Nosler BTs but, looks like those are gonna be hard to get here and soon! My main concern was what Ackman said, are they accurate and do they explode? I got a yes on both of them. The barrel is pretty smooth, cleans up real nice with minimal copper coming out and it comes out easy!

The best I've found in my 1/12 Hart 243AI for 70 grain TNTs is...of all things...IMR4895 and Varget. Go to Hodgdon's site, and they'll give you all the information you need there.

I've not had any luck with H414 in my barrel...no luck at all.

I almost picked up a pound of W760 today because Ackman is so fond of it, but I keep getting these little tiny groups with the Varget...and it is pretty temperature stable....:)
