Speedy and Trinidad.

I just got off the phone with Speedy Gonzalez (I love saying that). One of the nicest guys I have talked to in a long time! He really seems like the program there is really good and that people can get out of it exactly what they put into it. He was very helpful and insightful about how people succeed in the course there. Does anyone have any experience with him or the program there?

John-

Check out the thread from about a week ago titled "Colorado School of Trades" and the post I made there and some of the other responces.

Speedy was dead on that you get out of something what you put into it, but that holds true with most everything we do!

Trinidad has been around since 1925. It has been a very traditional gunsmithing school. It's reputation is second to none. Most of its instructors are from within their program. Speedy is from the outside and has brought some inovation to an already great program. I too was out there a couple a weeks ago, even had the pleasure of meeting Eron. One of the differences I see with Trinidad as the students want to be there and the atmosphere is very upbeat. Where else can you go and there be an air rifle match going on in the dorm hall and Students coming back from the range an storing their guns in the dorm room. There are even work benches in some of the rooms. Now that is dedication.

I can't beleive there is not a multi-year waiting line to get into the program. Three of the students in the NRA short course I tought had been coming to Trinidad for over 10 years. Two where staying for the entire summer program. It is almost like family, most are on a first name basis.

Well I can tell you that I had mixed feelings about picking up and moving my family, but after talking to speedy about the program and my future plans I have made my decision to go there. He was very helpful and in all honestly I don't think you could ask for a better instructor or mentor. He also presented me with some other opportunities that I wouldn't have anywhere else. I can't say enough about him, although my conversation with him was only about 45 minutes and it was only the one time, he seemed very genuine and wanted to help. Thanks for the input and I just wanted to say that speedy was a class act all the way!
