speedlock firing pin assemblies

Does anyone have any experience with the speedlock firing pin assemblies from Tubb or Ptg or any others out there. Thinking of replacing mine on a Rem 700 for better lock time but ive also heard of light strikes. Anyone have any problems or recommend a certain one? Thanks.

I have had four Speed-Loc firing pin/spring combos - 2 in Mauser 98s, 2 in Winchester 70 actions. One definitely wants to use the higher rate spring. One of the Winchester units was being used on a small rifle cartridge and pierced primers. Could have had the pin bushed to a small diameter but a change to a tougher primer fixed the problem. Beyond that I have been very happy with them. Can not say the decreased lock time is noticeable but they function well.

The potential for accuracy gain might only be achieved if you shoot off-hand. Shooting from a rest, proper ignition ( i.e. firing pin geometry and force) trumps lock-time. I verified this with a .222 Rem.700 set up in a HV configuration, and accuracy suffered with the Speedlock.

Snake Oil, stick with your steel firing pin and standard weight spring.

While dry-firing, I did notice quite a difference in harmonics between a factory steel firing pin assembly, and the Tubb firing pin assembly.

I've also learned early on, when shooting off a bi-pod that if a "softener" was used between the bi-pod and concrete, or if one eased forward and used the bi-pod off of the ground, groups were better.

I would love to see reports from various aftermarket firing pin assemblies!

I did try his dual firing pin sring kit on my Rem 700 SA. it did change my POI 1 inch left and 1.5 inches high at 100 yards. I did notice that my bolt does not jump around as much.

Dwight Scott is doing well adding a tungsten weight to firing pins. My Bat shoots a little better with the added weight.I wouldn't use the speed lock things if given to me.
If your rifle isn't shooting right, you have other problems.
