Speed node for 95vld?

NC/Br Shooter

Silver $$ Contributor
I've got 100s of 95vlds to shoot. In the Bra,
And need to settle on a charge weight with the 15.5.
From the looks of first 100 rds they shoot good Jamed. I brew pimmer pockets today at 31.5grains.
So my next outing I plan on bringing my chronograph out and load at the bench.
My question is, what speed do these bullets like the best.? Do they like 3000+
Or 2800 or the other.?
Any info or advise welcome.
Thanks

Yes sir ,any input helps. Trying to find a general consensus on the best speed to sling these freedom seeds.
Forgive if I'm wrong, but the acronym "VLD"
Doesn't that mean Berger? I guess I'm asking, Berger is only maker of VLD seeds? Right?
I guess I could ask the question like this,
Where would be best tune for these things,
In the 2800s or 2900s, or high 2900s?
Which ever direction I go, I'm sure it's got to be something close to 30gs.

I shoot them in a Hart 6BR 24" Sporter barrel. Also have a Krieger 28" 6BR. I shoot 31 gr of Varget in both. Sporter runs right at 2900 fps, and 3030 in the Krieger. Have shot very good scores at 1000 yards with the heavy gun. Sporter has shot 3" groups at 600. Not bad for a 7 1/2 lb rifle. They should do good for you. Good luck. Tom. The Berger 95 gr hunting bullets shot very good also.

I may be in-error, but....... believe I have read ( example 6mm ) long range target bullets refered to as
" VLD " in design; without the term being confined to on bullet maker. The " VLD " moniker stands for
" very low drag ".

VLDs are typically the longer / longest bullets offered in their calibre. They characteristically have a long slender ogive, often a pointed tip; and a notable boat tail. These features help contribute to the bullet's
" low drag ", compared to other bullets within the same calibre that might be flat based, more truncated or rounded in their ogive; and so forth.

VLDs shoot " flatter " at distance, requiring less elevation adjustment on things like rifle scopes.
They also can require comparatively less windage adjustment vs a bullet of same cal / same wt that is not
a VLD.

Not an elegant description, but that's the general gist of things ( IMHO )

Treece,
You rifle will decide what it likes as to bullet seating depth and velocity to be at its most accurate,
You have to test.

The 95 gr. Berger VLD like the node @ 3100 fps best in my 6BRX. This was the load I was using. CAUTION - Please work up your load.

95 GR. BERGER VLD 1.741 O M 2.376 COL T/L B S .337 B C .467
POWDER RL-15 33.0 GR. PRIMER CCI 450M
SEATED @ 1.731 O M 2.366 COL .010 OTL .268 BUSHING
3-SHOT GP. .084 M V 3100

Don't get hooked on a "speed node"
If people say that their 6bra shoots good @3000 or @2900
doesn't mean yours will.
Your barrel is going to shoot slower or faster than others depending
on a lot of other factors, like length and maker.
If your at the point of blowing primers with 15.5, your way over and need to lower that powder
charge. Then load some up and see how they group. Once you get the groups you want
then you can chronograph them, to see what your drop would be a distance.
Most barrels will speed up during the first 100 rounds, so the same load you had at 30
most likely be slower than the ones at 100.

Thanks to you all,.
I will back off and start over with these vlds.
I think 31grains will be max.
I will graph these things after I get done.
I just got done loading a ladder all the way to 31
