Speed limitation of LabRadar?

Either I have something set wrong or I have found the limitation of the unit. I can not get it to pick up any bullet that goes faster than 3900fps. Its hit & miss from 3800 to 3900 and nothing above 3900. Is it just mine or have others found this as well. Working with 40gr bullets and a 22-250.

User manual says 3900 is the fastest speed the Labradar will measure. I think it is due to a limitation of the electronic circuitry and how long the unit can be in transmit mode versus receive mode. Below is the fastest speed I have ever recorded with my Labradar. This with a 22-250 shooting 52gn flat base bullets. For me, the unit worked fine with no missed measurements up to this maximum speed. 1/3 gn more powder, and it never caught another data point.

LabRadar told me the 3900+- limitation is mechanical, rather than a software issue. They would have to redesign the unit to track at higher speeds.

Guessing here - but seeing that the versions of the Labradar that are sold outside the US is already nerfed to limit the power of the radar unit - it may also be some kind of legal or regulatory issue wrt how powerful the radar unit is allowed to be for consumer grade applications inside the US, and not just a question of redesigning - they may need to reclassify it if they want to go stronger?

I have talked to them a couple of times about this and they never mentioned a problem with the radar power. Also, it’s been over a year ago, but I ask if they were coming out with a redesign and was told that one was not on the plans back then.

It sounds like you need to pick up a Shooting Chrony. Not as convenient to use but believe they go to 5000fps. I've seen 4250 on mine with a 17.
