Source for Panda Action Screws?

Alexander-M

I need to do some work on the trigger on my 6mm-BRA Panda Action, and noticed that the hex socket of the middle screw is in bad shape. I have no idea of what happened as I have not taken it off yet. The stock is a Shurley Brothers Lowrider XL.

I would like to replace this screw, eventually, but after several differently worded Google searches, I cannot find any sources for these. The screw heads are slightly round, as a button head, 0.375" in diameter, and I believe that the treads are 1/4-28.

Picture below is of a good screw.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Alex

call Kelblys or go to Lowes,,,since the stock is a laminated "home made" stock rather than a "B"enchrest stock the original Kelbly screw may be too short,,,,Roger

I am not sure about "laminated 'home made'" - see pictures, below. It is a Shurley Brothers LowRider XL, as I said earlier.

The 1/4-28 screws are readily available, and McMaster-Carr offers several different head types, materials, and finishes; I just wondered if there would be an exact replacement. As some of you suggested, Kelbly or Surely Brothers may be the best option. I will call Monday.

Thx!

Alex

If Shirley Bros assembled it, they would be the ones to ask.
I agree. Whoever bedded the action and MADE those pillars will have the screws or know where to get them. May have to cut to length though.

Edit: Are those pillars sticking out of the stock? I would counterbore those flush if possible.

The screws came with the action and were too long so you can fit them in any stock. The stock makers have bags of them too. They get them from the same place a hardware store does so any of those 3 would be where to look. 1/4-28 is kinda odd so lowes may or may not have them. Just go there and match the head shape then see if they have the right thread. I get my screws from bat. Theyre actually machined and broached so they look a lot better but expensive and not necessary except for aesthetics

They are flush with the stock.
I will call Shurley Bros, and look locally as well.
Thx!

These rifles are said to be 1/4 - 28

1/4 - 28 //// Savage, Rem 700,788 etc, Ruger 77

If you have one of them you can try one for fit and then look for one of them if your calls don't source you one. Good Luck.

easy to tell dia and threads. take one to ace.and see what nut fits

Greetings,
BAT Machine has the best action screws I have used. The socket is considerably deeper than a “normal” action screw.
Good luck,
John
